Hi! We’re the Mauldins.

We are a family of five that recently moved from the city to the country to immerse ourselves in the beauty of nature. From growing our first garden and raising our own meats, we are passionate about discovering all this world offers and taking care of it along the way.

Our Story

After meeting in college and discovering our shared passion for the outdoors, we spent much of our free time outside—but mainly exercising or on hiking trails. We would frequent farmers markets and local farms, but always as a customer. Fast forward to when we had children, and that’s when we realized the country was where we were meant to be.

Meet William

Born in Mississippi and raised in the foothills of North Carolina’s Appalachian Mountains, William grew up with gardening and hunting as a staple for family meals. Both of his grandparents were farmers and he loved the glimpses of the agricultural tradition that he experienced in his childhood. William went on to become an engineer and business professional, but always had farming in his heart.

Meet Ashley

Ashley was raised in bustling Northern Virginia without any farming interest or influence at all, but took an avid interest in knowing where her food came from and what was in it during college. She joined and visited a local CSA often, always leaving with an appreciation for the farm. Heavily influenced by her mom’s creativity and crafting skills, Ashley was always a DIY-er, leading her to explore new foods and recipes in the kitchen with her CSA goods.

Our family

Many years after meeting in college, we married and had our first son. We were focused on giving him high-quality foods to eat as his body grew and began learning more about what we were eating. We watched from the sidelines as William’s brother and dad started their own farms, but farming was still far from our minds. As our family continued to grow and the world shutdown through COVID, we decided it was the perfect time to start our own journey.

As we start our farm, we have been heavily influenced by Joel Salatin, Alan Savory, and others. We are students of the ecological farming practices that glorify God’s creation and are essential to yielding clean, nutrient-dense meat and produce.
